Running in Reykjavik

This was my second visit to Reykjavik. Situated on the Southwest coast of Iceland it is the world’s most northerly capital city. Due to having a broken foot I was unable to run on my last visit. But I had no such problems this time around.

Running routes in Reykjavík are good and situated close together, so can be combined for a longer run of 18 km. The city itself is compact and ideal for a sightseeing run.

There are over 70 running event held in the area each year.and they did have a Parkrun but this has been suspended since 2012.

A popular route is along the sculpture and coast path. Owing to its latitude weather conditions can be quite testing, especially in the winter months. This morning’s run , as you can see from the photos, was a glorious, bright sunny morning, but cold with a temperature of -4C.
