The 24th of January is seemingly the birth date of the Emperor Hadrian so I thought what better excuse for a run around a section of Hadrian’s Wall.
Coincidentally I was born, not 100m away from a section of the wall at Denton Turret. But this is situated in an urban area of Newcastle, called Denton Burn, and not what I was looking for.
So I headed out to the Roman Fort at Housteads and picked my way west. Past Sycamore Gap, Steel Rigg and up to Winshields. The highest point on the wall as it winds it’s way across the North of England. Then back to Housteads again. Just taking my time admiring the scenery.
